Public Transport
An excellent network of public transport services exists throughout County Durham, including on Sundays and Bank Holidays, enabling you to travel almost anywhere by bus on any day of the week. Even the rural dales have regular services so you can reach a wide range of attractions like The Bowes Museum in Barnard Castle, England's highest waterfall at High Force in Teesdale, the Killhope Lead Mining Centre in Weardale, The North of England Open Air Museum at Beamish and the MetroCentre near Gateshead. Durham County Council also publishes a range of maps and leaflets to help you plan your visit to these attractions using public transport.
