Services for Older People
The Council's services have been developed to help you get the most out of life. If you want to stay in your own home we can offer services to help you. These may be home care services or you visiting a day centre a few times a week.

Sometimes though this is not possible and people are not able to live in their own home, if so we can arrange other accommodation for you.
Whatever your circumstances we want to help you live as independently as possible.
National Service Framework
The Government has produced a document which is called the National Service Framework for Older People. This is the first time that the Government has developed a plan that will make sure that we provide you with fair, high quality, and integrated social care services for older people. It is a 10 year programme that should change the way services are provided.How can we help?

Day Services
We can provide a range of day services for older people. These are designed to help older people:- Maintain their independence by assisting them in caring for themselves.
- Carry out tasks of daily living and helping to maintain and improve personal skills.
- Provide an opportunity for carers to have their own space and time.
- Maintain links with their local community.

Accommodation
We work in partnership with a number of agencies to provide a range of accommodation for those who need support. The range and availability of accommodation depends upon your needs and where you are living now.We can arrange the following types of accommodation:
Transport
Some times you may need help with transport. We can help with:Carers

It will depend on your income and savings. There are set amounts of income and savings that you are allowed. We will talk to you about how much you need to pay.Help with Money
If you need financial help and advice the Welfare Rights Unit may be able to help you.If you receive a service you may be entitled to Direct Payments to purchase your own care.
Vulnerable People

Please contact us if you feel you need an assessment or wish to speak to us about a relative, neighbour or friend.If you want advice on disability issues or voluntary groups, the Directions service may be able to help you.
