Submit a Planning Application Online

A new facility to submit planning applications online is now available via the Planning Portal. By using this facility you will be able to:

• Complete application forms and certificates in your own time and in a way that allows you to easily make and save any recent drafts.
• Attach documents including plans, supporting statements and photos - saving you printing costs.
• Check and pay the fee online using the fee calculator and our secure payments facility.
• Submit your application electronically saving you time and postage.

How to submit an online application:

• Click on the button below entitled 'Submit Online Planning Application', which will take you to the Planning Portal Homepage
• From here, click on 'Professional User' and then choose, 'Applications' option on left hand menu bar
• Click on 'Make a new application'
• You will then be asked to Login and Register - if registering for the first time, after you have completed your title and full name, please ensure that you select 'Professional User' when asked 'Who are you'
• When registration is complete, you will be asked to give your new application a name and then to specify, either by postcode or by selecting on a map, the location of the proposed development
• Once you have confirmed the location, please click on the link indicating that you wish to 'begin a Waste or Regulation 3 application here'. This will ensure that when the application is complete, it will be submitted to Durham County Council

Please Note: this facility is for the submission of applications relating to Waste and County Council (Regulation 3) Developments. It does not cover Minerals Applications or Review of Minerals Permissions. These applications will need to be submitted in paper format as before.
